My First class at Schoonhoven!!!

So yesterday was my first day of the coarse. It was super exciting!!!! I left my house with time to spare just to make sure I would be on time. I had printed the route that I had to take which train which bus etc etc. First the train was 5 minutes late, you all probably think so what 5 minutes is not a big deal right. WRONG. Because I had to go from Arnhem to Utrecht then I had 8 minutes to go to the jaarbeursplein, which I had no clue where it was. On the route I had printed it said I needed 8 minutes, but because my train was late I only had 3 minutes. I started messaging people in the train to ask where that jaarbeursplein was. Finally I figured it out, ran like a maniac and I was still late. Luckily however so was the bus so I was still on time, I was sooo happy… I had an hour more till I would get to the school.

I finally got there thinking ahh it’s the first class we probably wont do much (I had not yet received all my tools and materials so I was totally unprepared). Anyways the teacher found me some spare things to use but it was ok. Yesterday we learned to saw metal. My lines were not exactly what I would call straight, but with practice im sure I will do better. Furthermore I was the youngest person there and I ended up getting home at 12 because someone was so kind as to drop me at Utrecht Central so that I would not have to wait half an hour for the bus and arrive in Arnhem at 12:30.

It was all a lot of fun and I am super excited to continue and see what else I will learn during this coarse.

Schoonhoven

I know I have not blogged much these days just been a bit pre-occupied. I am starting to get surprisingly nervous for the Schoonhoven coarse. I have never really felt like I was not good at my passion till now. I mean im not saying I suck, but the rest of the people taking that coarse are probably way more advanced than me, what if I suck… Its kind of crazy that I am so worried about this, especially since I have been wanting to do this for a few years and I am not finally getting the chance! The class starts on the 29^th so I am totally psyched!

Furthermore I have made a couple of earrings but have not yet taken the time to really design anything else so far. I think a big reason is because I am a bit low on supply so I should order some new things ASAP. Anyways that should not be a problem.

Back in Holland....

I got back to Holland yesterday and I was already in the mood to design and make some new things. Problem however is that I have a bunch of things to arrange before I get to have fun. Need to get over my jetlag, clean my place, wash clothes etc etc. how fun right? NOOOO. Anyways as soon as I get all of that out of the way I will plan a designing and creating day, cant wait… When the time comes I will take some pictures and post them. For those of you who read my blog if you have any comments feel free. And if there is something specific you think I should blog about, go ahead and tell me!

Me on tv! Who would have thought?!?!

So tonight I was on tv!!! I don’t know how it happened but it just did. The meeting today went well and that’s how this happened. The meeting today was at WTC which is coincidentally also where channel 11 in Curacao has their office. I was talking to the guy from the meeting, and he suddenly told me that we were going to walk over to the office of channel 11 because he knew people there. Next thing I know they called over the camara guy and I was being interviewed. Mind you I can NOT be on tv. Whenever I see one of those guys with a big video camara I duck out of the way, so this was a challenge for me. Worst and the funniest part to most of you who saw it is that they told me I had to do it in Papiamentu, and those of you who know me know that my Papiamentu is ridiculous. This was another big challenge but I decided I couldn’t say no to such a great opportunity.

I am very thankful to the people from channel 11 and I am super excited to hear reactions. Have a good night everyone!

Opportunities coming my way!

Super excited about what is going to come soon! I have a meeting tomorrow with someone who might be able to offer me some great opportunities for my line. Have a meeting tomorrow morning and will let you all know how it went when I myself know more. I am however super excited even for the idea of this.

Also last week I went out and when I introduced myself to a girl she was like oh yea Tiara, from Tiara’s Jewels right? Ahh that was an amazing feeling I got all happy inside. I have always wanted to hear that and that night I finally got to that point. I had gone out with two good friends of mine for happy hour was a great night. Lately more and more people have been mentioning my line to me, which is a great sign! Guess I am doing something right after all huh?

Photoshoot

Last week I had this amazing photo shoot. To be able to do the shoot I had two good friends of mine willing to help me out. While one of my friends modeled, the other photographed. Thank you again to Sabine Greijmans and Jose Calles, you guys are the best!

The shoot was a blast and I got the pictures today. I also uploaded them on both my website, and also on my facebook page. You might notice that on my facebook page I have more, this is because for the website I decided one of each design would be enough. On the facebook page I also added some behind the scenes pictures as some of you might have already noticed.

Now that I will have some more free time on my hands I am going to do my best to work on Tiara’s Jewels a lot more as to finally make it the way I have always wanted it to be. Yes it will take a lot of time and money but I will get there and the journey I’m sure will be an amazing one.

I have been thinking about writing a blog for a few months now but I was not sure what to write about. I figured that I could write about different aspects of my life such as Tiara’s Jewels and also other things that are going on in my life. Especially since I am finally going to get the opportunity to take a Goldsmith course.

It is something that I have been wanting to do for a few years. I am going to do it in Schoonhoven, which is a really good jewelry design school, so I am super excited. Since I to start with Communications studies in February I have 6 month of freedom so decided to start with the Goldsmithing course and work on the side. Hopefully I will also have the time to work on my line more. I must say that even though I love being back home I am also super excited to go back to Holland and start my course…

Anyways more on that next time!!!!
